SFNYC started, like most things, as a group chat. A few founders and operators comparing flight dates, asking each other for a reservation, a recruiter, a sublet, a second pair of eyes on the term sheet.
There was no plan. Over the year it became clear how much our lives already rhymed. We ended up on the same flights and at the same restaurants.
You may have noticed the same idea appearing online: a third space opening up between the two coasts, talked about more and more. SFNYC is one of the first attempts to give it a shape. We think of it as citymeshing, the start of something we expect to run well beyond these two cities.
SFNYC is for people building things and people funding them. Put plainly: New Yorkers who like San Francisco, and San Francisco people that New Yorkers like.
Who we look for
- You spend time in both San Francisco and New York, by choice.
- You are building something or backing it: a company, a fund, a craft, a body of work.
- You are generous with introductions, taste, and time.
- People show up when they hear you will be there.
How big it gets
Small, for now. We would like it to be bigger and more open than it is. Currently we're taking time and the reps to learn how to grow without losing what makes it good.
The 2026 class
We are accepting applications through July 31, 2026. We read every one, and earlier applications get more of our attention.
The office
If you have an idea for SFNYC, or want to help support it, we would like to hear it. Read the open call for where we are headed, then write to us.
